Summer 2012 saw Shires undertake a complete rebuild and restoration of a traditional stone and cob barn for a family who wished to transform an old barn adjacent to their property into a high quality holiday let.
Working to exacting architectural plans from a London practice, Feilden Fowles Shires used traditional methods to repair the cob structure, to create a very modern building. The challenge was to transform the traditional building with its myriad of angles and curves into the new angular modern design. The barn now has a raft of eco measures to offer the lowest running costs possible within its traditional cob and stone skin.
The Cob Barn was an instant hit with guests and is booked solid.
